Multicam editing lets you cut between multiple camera angles in real-time, just like a live TV switcher. It's essential for interviews, events, live performances, and any shoot with 2+ cameras running simultaneously.

Setup Process

  1. Import all camera angles into a single bin in your Project panel
  2. Select all clips from the same take or scene
  3. Right-click > Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence
  4. Choose sync method: Audio is the most reliable (Premiere analyzes waveforms to align clips)
  5. Set camera angle order and naming
  6. The multicam source sequence appears in your bin โ€” drag it to your timeline

Cutting in Real-Time

  1. Open the Multi-Camera Monitor (Window > Multi-Camera Monitor)
  2. Enable the Multicam Record button on your Program Monitor
  3. Press Play and click the angle you want โ€” Premiere cuts in real-time
  4. Use number keys 1-9 to switch angles even faster

Refining the Edit

After your first pass, flatten the multicam by right-clicking clips and selecting Flatten. Then you can trim, add transitions, and fine-tune each cut point. Always keep the original multicam source sequence in case you need to re-cut a section.
